The Division oversees the preservation of Bergen County's farmland by administering the Farmland Preservation Program to purchase development easements on farmland from landowners. It also administers the Right to Farm Protection Program which provides commercial farm owners or operators with certain protection from restrictive municipal ordinances and public and private nuisance actions. The State Agriculture Development Committee (SADC) is an important partner in the County’s farmland preservation and right-to-farm efforts.

Assisting the Division is the County Agriculture Development Board (CADB), which consists of seven voting members - four farmer and three public members. There are also three ex-officio members.
