HACKENSACK, NJ – On Wednesday, August 23, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and members from the Bergen County Board of Commissioners joined NJ State Senator Nellie Pou, Garfield Mayor Richard Rigoglioso and local city officials for a tour of the newly renovated kitchen at the Garfield Senior Activity Center.
The County-operated Senior Activity Center recently underwent a major eight-month kitchen renovation to replace countertops, cabinets, sinks, a refrigerator, a utility closet, and a large commercial stove used to prepare hot lunches for visitors. The renovations were funded by a $199,000 federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) that was allocate to the City of Garfield by the County’s Division of Community Development.
The new kitchen will allow Bergen County Division of Senior Services staff to better serve center visitors and once again resume the hot lunch program.
