BERGEN COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESPONSE TEAM
Hackensack, NJ – The Bergen County Department of Human Services, Division of Alternatives to Domestic Violence (BCDHS/ADV) is currently recruiting volunteers for its Domestic Violence Response Team. Volunteers from the community will receive training to offer information and referrals to victims who feel endangered and will work in coordination with municipal police departments throughout Bergen County.
The BCDHS/ADV is a multifaceted domestic violence intervention and prevention program working with Bergen County families since 1978. The Division provides critical services to all parties experiencing an abusive relationship. Services include a 24-hour hotline, crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy and education, and referrals. With the goal of prevention through education, the Division provides community and school workshops to raise awareness of domestic violence and to educate residents about healthy relationships.
Applicants will be required to consent to a criminal background check, finger printing, drug testing, and attend 40 hours of training.
