Community Service Aide – Senior Centers - County of Bergen Department of Human Services – Division of Senior Services
Under supervision, performs a variety of routine field and office work involved in community-oriented programs such as housing and education; interviews community residents and assists them in obtaining government aid and support services, or makes referrals to other agencies; does other related duties as required.
Job Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to)
- Assists in the implementation and delivery of community-oriented service programs and activities for the Senior Center, including games, crafts and exercise.
- May set up appointments for residents with appropriate public or private agencies including transportation for participants.
- Prepares reports and assists with statistics.
- Maintains essential records and files including lunch records up to date and organized.
- Helps participants attain greater skills in and enjoyment from recreation activities.
- Welcomes visitors and answer incoming telephone calls.
- Monitors participants to ensure orderly conduct & Covid restrictions are being followed.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to potentially hazardous situations; reports all incidents and accidents according to established procedures.
- Inputs participant data into SAMS and Access.
- Checks in participants for lunch and classes.
- Assists in the kitchen as needed.
- Creates flyers for special programs.
Schedule:
- Full time - 35-hour week.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma.
Other Requirements:
- Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred - read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in both.
- Exemplary time management and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work well in a cooperative, team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of SAMS and Access are a plus.
